Robert Smith was born in Scotland, raised in Durham, North Carolina, and went to university just down the road in Chapel Hill. After UNC, he spent time in the Department of Defense — where he developed solutions to problems in programs that supported the United States Marine Corps. Smith is keen on finding unique ways to combine math and medicine. In his free time, he is a rower with Potomac Boat Club, an avid runner of the Krispy Kreme challenge, and enjoys watching films.
Research Interests
Smith aims to create and optimize methods that restore and enhance fundamental human functions, focusing on the application of radiation in treating cancer.
