Yiwei Zhang

Yiwei Zhang is a Ph.D. student in the Operations Research Program at NC State University. By utilizing the health systems engineering-related knowledge and skills she has learned in this program and from the amazing faculties that she has worked with. Zhang hopes to make a positive impact on people’s life.

Research Interests

Zhang’s research focuses on building a compartmental SEIR simulation model to project COVID-19 Infections in school settings under different levels of masking and testing scenarios. Work includes literature review, building models using R programming, and sensitivity analysis of model results. Work also includes drafting presentation slides for presenting results to the Local Health Department and School Boards. The research letter of the work was cited by The Washington Post, The New York Times, and yourlocalepidemiologist.substack.com in 2021.
